wool scarf, 2025

undyed shetland wool

A hand-woven scarf produced entirely from undyed Shetland wool sheared and
spun in New Hampshire, following a fully closed-loop path from farm to loom.
The piece carries a soft, natural hand with a gentle, airy weight, shaped through
a balanced weave that allows the yarn’s slight irregularities to surface as quiet
shifts in texture. Subtle variations in yarn thickness and tension create texture
throughout the scarf, giving the wool room to show its character while
maintaining a clean, structured look.

The New Hampshire–sourced Shetland wool retains its true, unaltered tone,
reflecting the landscape in which the sheep roam. Each of the stages
and weaving remain linked, preserving a clear line back to its origin.
Through this process, the scarf moves beyond a simple accessory,
becoming a study in how locally grounded materials and hand-led techniques
shape a textile from the very first touch to the final form.
